October 40-Hour Mediation & Conflict Transformation Skills Training: Multiple Parties, Organizations & Representatives

This course is led by Louise Phipps Senft, the author of the best-selling book: Being Relational: the Seven Ways to Quality Interaction & Lasting Change. All registrants will receive a signed copy of the best-seller.

40-Hour Certificated Mediation and Conflict Transformation Training is led by master trainer Louise Phipps Senft and the Baltimore Mediation team. This course provides the tools and theory critical in transforming conflict in all areas of conflict and dispute: family, business, workplace, community, lawsuits and legal claims. This is a nationally approved certificated mediation training that also includes an in-depth focus on sources of conflict, a systems approach and unitive triangling.

This 40-hour mediation training is part of Baltimore Mediation’s Core Curricula designed to teach you everything you need to know to start mediating, either professionally or for daily use and practice. We’ll focus on mediation, conflict transformation and resolution, Relational conflict theory and skills, personality and motivation awareness for the mediator, with an emphasis on fostering self-awareness to reduce personal reactivity, as well as Relational reflection and non-transactional listening and intervention techniques to facilitate communication, breakthroughs and quality decision making. The course emphasizes the following:

• Understanding Relational Conflict Theory and Transformative Practice of Mediation, as Mediators
• Self-Awareness Inventory and Development
• Conflict Intervention and Transformation Mindset Necessary to Mediate
• Relational Communication Skillset and Transformation “How-To’s” for breakthroughs
• Individual Feedback from Trainers, addressing Participants’ Specific Strengths and Identifying Each person’s growth edge for excellence
• Mastering and Understanding of Oneself as the Conflict Intervener
• Understanding the Motivations of Personality Working with the Enneagram
• Mastering the Skills of the “little m” mediator for Everyday Conflict Management
• Understanding the dynamics of the mediation process and mediator’s role
• Dealing with Strong Emotions
• Working with and through Impasse
• Knowing what a transformative mediator looks for to foster shifts
• Working with multiple parties
• Understanding conflict in systems and relational ways to respond
• Hands-on skills for everyday conflict and conflict transformation how-to
• Understanding the mediator’s ethical and legal obligations

What’s Included: A 40-hour certificated course held over a period of five consecutive days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), a copyrighted 275-page training manual, a copy of the Best-Seller Being Relational: the Seven Ways to Quality Interaction & Lasting Change, and materials.

A certificate noting 40 hours of participation will be provided at the end of training for each person completing the course. It may be used to apply for state circuit court rosters of approved mediators and for continuing education credits from the participant’s accrediting institution.

This training is approved by and/or a certificate of successful completion of this training may be used to satisfy the requirements of the following:

• The Maryland Circuit Courts
• The United States government and all federal agency rosters
• The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
• The Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners
• Maryland State Board of Education
• Most other states which have 20, 40, or 60-hour mediation training requirements.
